Sun Sentinel: Spring Campaign Provides Nourishment for Children in Broward County | 05/14/13

With matching funds multiplying donations, the Spring Campaign's launch is planting the seeds for local children to have a chance at a healthier and brighter future. The Sun Sentinel Children's Fund, a McCormick Foundation Fund, has kicked off its first-ever Spring Campaign to raise funds to support local nonprofits that help children and families reach self-sufficiency by offering year-round educational programs, providing nutritious meals and housing, and supporting child abuse prevention and treatment programs. All donations to the Spring Campaign are matched by the McCormick Foundation at 50 cents on the dollar, and the Sun Sentinel and the foundation pay all administrative expenses, so 100 percent of every donation, plus the match, is granted to the local community.

Sun Sentinel: Women of Tomorrow Impacts Five Charity Groups | 05/07/13

More than 200 women were on hand as Impact 100 Palm Beach County awarded $220,000 in grants to five nonprofit organizations at its second annual "Grand Awards Celebration" at Delray Beach Marriott. After hearing presentations from the five nonprofit finalists, the Impact 100 members cast their votes and awarded $100,000 to Equine-Assisted Therapies of South Florida and Women of Tomorrow. The three remaining finalists, the Delray Beach Center for the Arts at Old School Square, Coastal Conservation Association Florida and the Children's Home Society, were each awarded $6,667.

The Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program celebrated its 12th Annual Gala and 17th year of mentoring on March 2 at the Mandarin Oriental Miami. Founders Jennifer Valoppi and Don Browne, along with Gala Chair Marisa Toccin and Co-Vice President Katherine Fernandez Rundle, were among the 500 philanthropists and celebrities who raised a record breaking $700,000 for the program.

Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program hosted over 700 guests at its Annual Graduation Luncheon to award $200,000 in college scholarships to more than 100 Mentees and honor the 2013 graduating seniors on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at 11am at Jungle Island. To mark the occasion, special speakers Debbie Wasserman Schultz, U.S. Representative of Florida’s 23rd Congressional District, Alberto Carvalho, Superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public Schools, and Robert Runcie, Superintendent of Broward County Public Schools, joined Women of Tomorrow Founder & President, Jennifer Valoppi in addressing the more than 450 graduating seniors to inspire them to continue forward on their path to success.

Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program hosted its Detroit Spring 2013 Fundraiser at a concert by Detroit Rock n’ Roll legend Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band on April 11, 2013 at the Palace of Auburn Hills. The organization sold tax-deducible tickets to the event, which included a private reception prior to the concert at the luxurious new Club 300 for supporters to meet and mingle.

DETROIT - The Women of Tomorrow Mentor and Scholarship Program will host their 2013 Spring Fundraiser at the Palace during Detroit rock legend Bob Seger and the Silver Bullet Band's concert. Event organizers said the concert will take place in the luxurious new Club 300 at the Palace of Auburn Hills on Thursday, April 11 at 6 p.m. The non-profit, which provides mentoring and scholarship opportunities to at-risk young girls in public high schools, is selling tax-deductible tickets to the nearly sold-out concert, which will include a private reception in Club 300 with amenities such as private restrooms, two private cash bars, complimentary wine, soda and heavy appetizers.

Savannah Brinson Hosts IPROMise Event for Women of Tomorrow Mentees at Miami HEAT Arena! | 04/08/13

On Tuesday, April 3rd, Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program Mentees from 11 high schools throughout Miami-Dade County participated in Savannah Brinson’s first-ever Savannah’s I PROMISE Makeover Event held at the American Airlines Arena. Savannah established the event, as a way to empower and inspire young women and assist those that may not have the means to prepare for prom on their own. Fifty (50) Women of Tomorrow Mentees were provided with a brand new prom dress of their choice, as well as professional make-up and hair techniques.

MIAMI – April 3, 2013 – Today, fifty pre-selected at-risk high school senior girls from local Miami public schools had the opportunity of a lifetime to participate in Savannah Brinson’s first-ever Savannah’s I PROMISE Makeover. Held at AmericanAirlines Arena, the inaugural event provided the young women with a prom dress of their choice and assorted accessories for their upcoming senior proms. Brinson, the fiancée of NBA All-Star LeBron James, established the event as a way to empower and inspire young women and assist those that may not have the means to prepare for prom on their own. The 50 participants were selected with the assistance of Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program, a South Florida organization that connects young women to life changing mentoring and scholarship opportunities.

Social Florida Guide: Women of Tomorrow Making a Difference Today | 04/01/13

Founded in Miami in 1997, The Women of Tomorrow Mentor and Scholarship Program helps at-risk public high school girls b pairing them with highly accomplished female mentors. Each year, 131 high schools participate in this program. 2,500 at-risk girls lives are change as they go through monthly mentoring sessions lead by over 350 successful female mentors. The girls are placed into small groups and are exposed to opportunities that would have otherwise not been available to them including personal and professional training, and education on goal setting and achievement.

Women of Tomorrow: Taking on the challenges of today | 12/28/12

Cooper City High School senior Ashira Vantrees is well on her way to becoming an expert in disaster management. And it's not just because she's already won a college scholarship with a plan to study that topic. Vantrees, 17, tells about having to pack up the two-bedroom apartment she shared with her mother and three sisters, stow most of their stuff in a storage unit and go on a road trip. When they returned, they were living in a hotel for four months.

Cooper City High School Senior Ashira Vantrees has been a member of the Women of Tomorrow Club for the past three years. She thought she was attending a club meeting, when Miami Dolphins start wide receiver Davone Bess and CEO Mike Dee entered the room and asked her to join them. In recognition of her achievements, she received a $5,000 scholarship towards financing a college education from the Sun Life Rising Start Awards program, a Miami Dolphins Foundation educational program.

On August 29th, 2012, the Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program was proud to receive a donation from Florida Community Bank. Women of Tomorrow's Founder & President, Jennifer Valoppi, accepted the award at a check presentation held at the bank's corporate office in Weston, FL.  Also in attendance at the presentation was Michelle Kahn, Women of Tomorrow's Director of Strategic Partnerships, and senior executives from the bank, including Marcos Britos, Nancy Merolla, and Irene Marshall.

Atlantic Tech WOT Girls Gather for a “Knit In” for “Preemie Hats” to be Donated to Hospitals | 10/31/11

At their October 31st Meeting, the mentees from Atlantic Tech high school gathered for a “Knit In” for “Preemie Hats” to be donated to Plantation General Hospital and Holy Cross Hospital.  Organized by School Coordinator, Margaret Rohrbach and mentors Lidia-Rodriquez Hupp and Lisa Aronson, the ladies were taught to knit by Atlantic Tech High teacher JoAnn Izzo and her able teacher assistants.  For over a month, the mentees were seen “knitting” in between classes on campus and over 45 caps were donated to these area hospitals.
