Marisa Toccin, Gala Chair
Marisa Toccin is carrying on her family's tradition as an active member of the community. Marisa sits on the board of the Women of Tomorrow Mentor and Scholarship program, an organization dedicated to inspiring, motivating and empowering at-risk young women to live up to their full potential. She has also chaired the organization’s annual gala since its inception, raising more than 2.5 million dollars for college scholarships and mentoring activities.
In addition to Marisa’s work with Women of Tomorrow, she is a Founder at the University of Miami, a Spectrum Award recipient for the American Red Cross, and one of the American Cancer Society's "Ten Best Dressed." Marisa received the "Miracle Maker" award from Big Brothers Big Sisters and the Valor Award by the American Diabetes Association. She is a Founder at Mount Sinai and served as an honorary chairman for the Diabetes Research Institute's Love and Hope ball. Marisa was honored this year as a “Woman of Substance and Style” by The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis.
Marisa works with Project Newborn and is a member of both the Banyan and Tiffany Societies. She is also actively involved with her alma matter, the University of Pennsylvania, as a member of the school’s Trustees’ Council for Penn Women. Marisa is the university’s Gift Chair and received the Volunteer of the Year award for her fundraising work in South Florida.
On a professional level, Marisa launched an exciting new e-commerce business this past year. The website, LineaLuxe.com, offers a variety of high-end home and personal accessories as well as gifts.
Prior to this new venture, Marisa spent nearly ten years as an Emmy Award winning television news producer with her stories airing nationally from New York, to Los Angeles, to here in South Florida. From breaking national stories to investigating consumer alerts and health breakthroughs, Marisa focused on topics that made a difference and affected everyday lives. Her journey in the news industry took her to a variety of stations and shows including, CBS4, NBC6, WABC in New York, Inside Edition, and WPVI in Philadelphia.
Marisa graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with honors in 1999. She has also studied in Italy, France, Spain, and England.
