Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program Holds its Annual Gala Kick-Off Dinner at the new restaurant Asia de Cuba at Mondrian South Beach
Miami Beach, FL – Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program Founders Jennifer Valoppi and Don Browne along with Annual Gala Chair Marisa Toccin were thrilled to partner with Asia de Cuba in celebration of its grand opening, holding a kick-off dinner for Women of Tomorrow’s Annual Gala at the swanky new restaurant on December 9th.
Asia de Cuba at Mondrian South Beach blends a vibrant, social atmosphere conceived by Marcel Wanders with innovative menus, utilizing the best of Asian and Latin cuisines and intense flavors distinctly united. The restaurant delivers imaginatively prepared plates and such signatures dishes as the Calamari Salad “Asia de Cuba” with chayote, hearts of palm, banana, cashews, chicory and radicchio in a sesame orange dressing; Tunapica, a picadillo style tuna tartare with Spanish olives, black currants, almonds and coconut in a soy-lime vinaigrette; Palomillo of Marinated Lamb, and the Miso-Cured Alaskan Butterfish accompanied by a tempura-battered shisito pepper.
Jennifer Valoppi and Marisa Toccin announced Women of Tomorrow’s Gala Honorees: Honorary Chairmen Leon & Serena Simkins in honor of their daughters & granddaughters, Humanitarian Chairs Swanee and Paul DiMare, Legacy Builder Honorees Arlene & Wayne Chaplin, Empowerment Award Honoree Dr. Krista Rosenberg, Mentor of the Year Robyn Perlman and Excellence Honorees Jorge Gonzalez of the Mandarin Oriental, Miami and Leslie Lott. The Annual Gala will raise funds to support WOT’s mentoring sessions, career-focused field trips, specialized college campus visits and scholarships to send at-risk young women to college.
Now in its 12th year, Women of Tomorrow was founded by television journalist Jennifer Valoppi and Telemundo President Don Browne in 1997. The organization currently mentors close to 2,000 at-risk young women in 98 Miami-Dade, Broward and Palm Beach public high schools, and has provided more than $1.89 million in scholarship value to help enhance and enrich their lives through education. The program’s mentors include 250 of South Florida’s most accomplished professional women.
