About Women of Tomorrow
WOT is About Women Helping Women.
An initial study showed a statistically significant improvement in the self-esteem of the young girls participating in the program. Recent analysis has shown that Women of Tomorrow Mentees demonstrate a statistically significant increase in their grade point averages (GPA) each year they are involved in WOT. In addition, WOT Mentees graduate from high school at a 92% rate.
Currently, the Women of Tomorrow program is implemented in 99 Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach County public high schools in 42 South Florida cities and serves 2,000 mentees with its network of 250 mentors. Since the inception of its Scholarship Program in 2000, WOT has awarded over $2.7 million in scholarships to 973WOT Mentees.
Program History: The Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program was founded in 1997 by Author & Television Journalist Jennifer Valoppi and Telemundo Network President, Don Browne.
WOT is believed to be the only program of its kind in the country, pairing extremely accomplished professional women with small groups of at-risk teenage girls in public high schools for monthly mentoring sessions in a three to four year mentoring program. WOT Mentors are highly accomplished professional women including judges, doctors, lawyers, airplane pilots, newscasters, executives, and entrepreneurs who are dedicated to showing WOT Mentees all the possibilities that exist.
The Women of Tomorrow Mentor & Scholarship Program (WOT) is designed to help at-risk young women who are not living up to their full potential. The WOT School Coordinators work with other school personnel to identify a small group of WOT Mentees per school.
